The Pakistan Butterfly Society Quarterly Bulletin (PBSQB) is a collaborative effort between the Pakistan Butterfly Society and Rewilding Indus. As the region’s first newsletter dedicated solely to butterflies, PBSQB is published online every three months, with each issue released on the 15th of March (Spring), June (Summer), September (Monsoon), and December (Winter).
PBSQB covers a wide range of topics related to Pakistani butterflies, including their diversity and distribution, conservation challenges, biology, and fascinating facts. Regular sections include “Events,” “Pakistan’s Natural Heritage” (focusing on endemic and near-endemic butterflies), “Butterfly Insights” and “Rarity Notes.” The editorial team consists of Akram Awan (Chief Editor), Azan Karam, and Zafeer Ahmad Shaikh (Editors).
The primary goal of PBSQB is to raise awareness about these beautiful and ecologically important insects among the people of Pakistan. While the newsletter is mainly published in English, contributions in Urdu and other regional languages—such as Balochi, Pashto, Punjabi, and Sindhi—are also accepted (1-3 per issue) to reach a broader readership.
